Born at the end of Y2K, Con Ray is a Michigan born multimedia artist who works in comic illustration, printmedia, painting, collage, writing, and more. Receiving their Bachelor in Fine Arts from the Gwen Frostic School of Art at Western Michigan University, as well as a minor in Writing, Con Ray has already shown work throughout his home state and abroad in Poland. Their comedic, tongue-in-cheek work is compelled by their own philosophy to truly listen to material and create work which blurs our reality with the world of art.

Con Ray believes that art should be treated as if it were alive, aware, and conscious of its existence. In doing so, they play with a variety of topics including radically respecting materiality, interacting with the viewer and the art institution, and tackling traditional and contemporary ideas about art history and what art means. It has allowed viewers to reflect on themselves and their own humanity and to think more deeply about art and what it means to be alive.
